This is not a small town, it is a suburb in a way of Palermo whose peaks and isthmus forms the east side of the bay of Palermo. What cannot be seen from this photo is the villa side of the mountains against the sea. Bagheria marks the heart of the Mafia country where in times past a number of killings related to the underground have occurred. The east side of Palermo bay is created by Mount Pelligrino which marks the beginning of a small bay east of Palermo called Mondello, a place that is a pleasant way to end a trip to Sicily and it isn't far from the new airport.
